ANTJE (white oak). Acrylic paint and oil. (36/33 x 12 cm).
I really love the color of this wood. It has a darker tone than most of the oak I worked with before. The tree grew in one big garden in Prague and it was cut down as the land owner wanted to make more space for the tree that was growing just few meters away from this one. After turning Antje was left to dry for few months which allowed her to warp and stretch. My favorite feature on this bowl are cracks coming from the center of the knot in the upper part of the bowl.

ANTJE (dub). (36/33 x 12 cm).
Moc mě baví barva dřeva, ze kterého je Antje vysoustružená. Má tmavější barvu než většina dubů, se kterými jsem doposud pracoval. Strom rostl v jedné velké zahradě v Praze a majitel se rozhodl ho pokácet, protože chtěl udělat více místa pro strom, který rostl jen několik metrů vedle. Po vysoustružení jsem Antje nechal několik měsíců pomalu schnout, což způsobilo její deformaci. Nejvíc mě na ní baví praskliny, které vycházejí ze středu suku v horní části mísy.
