ANTONIA (beech). Acrylic paint and ,oil and wax ( 38/35.5/ x 13 cm). This decorative bowl is made from beech wood that comes from the Forest Botanical Garden located in Tharandt/Germany. My partner's father works there. He called me when this tree fell during a storm and offered it for my work. It was a massive tree and I just wish I would have a bigger lathe so I could turn bigger pieces from it. The crack in the bottom of the bowl was filled with bark and fell off when I was sanding the bowl. There is quite an interesting spalting around this opening.
ANTONIA( 38/35.5/ x 13 cm) je z bukového dřeva, které pochází z Lesní botanické zahrady, která se nachází v sasském městě Tharandt. Pracuje tam otec mé partnerky a tak mi dřevo nabídl poté, co byl strom vyvrácený během bouřky. Byl to obrovský strom a mrzí mě, že nemám větší soustruh, abych mohl z dřeva vysoustružit větší kusy. Ve spodní části mísy je dlouhá prasklina, která byla vyplněna kůrou, která při broušení odpadla. Kolem této díry je skutečně zajímavé černé čáry, které způsobila houba, který strom napadla.
